Rotary Festive Cake Appeal
An Enterprise To Support The Rainbow Trust
At Christmas in 2014 the Rotary Club of Upper Eden appealed to Rotarians to support the Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity by purchasing Festive Cakes made by the Cumbrian award winning cake maker, Country Fare.
The Rainbow Trust provides emotional and practical support to families who have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness. In our opinion, the quietly effective care for desperately sick children provided by the Rainbow Trust deserves the support of all Rotarians. The Pennine valley of Mallerstang in Cumbria
The cake maker, Country Fare, is a family business based at a working hill farm in the Pennine Valley of Mallerstang. The cakes are made following traditional recipes, and local Cumbrian ingredients are used whenever possible, including free range eggs from the farm at Levens, flour from the mills at Silloth, and milk from the Eden Valley.
We were pleased to be able to offer the choice of a traditional Iced Christmas Cake or a Celebration Fruit Cake, each in a presentation tin. The cakes were suitable for vegetarians ,and each cake weighed in excess of 2.2lbs (1.0 kilo).
The Festive Cakes cost £20 each and were ordered in multiples of 6, in any combination of the two types of cake, and were delivered free of charge to the address requested on the order form. Rotarians were encouraged to purchase Festive Cakes for themselves, family members and friends and were assured of quality produce and that all profits would benefit a truly worthwhile national charity.
